Net Zero Technology Centre: Partners, Members, and Companies

The Net Zero Technology Centre (NZTC) collaborates with a broad network of partners across industry, academia, and government to accelerate the development and deployment of technologies for a net-zero energy future.


Academic and Research Partnerships

NZTC has established significant alliances with leading academic institutions, including:


  • University of Aberdeen

  • Robert Gordon University

  • Durham University

  • University of Edinburgh

  • University of Strathclyde


These partnerships focus on research and development in areas such as decommissioning, subsea engineering, and geothermal energy


Strategic Alliances and Initiatives

  • Scotland’s Net Zero Roadmap (SNZR): In partnership with NECCUS, Aker Solutions, Costain, Doosan, and others, focusing on decarbonizing industrial clusters like Grangemouth/St. Fergus.

  • The Energy Transition Alliance (ETA): Five-year collaboration with Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult (ORE) to accelerate R&D for the energy transition.

  • Hydrogen Innovation Initiative: Aims to build new technology supply chains and stimulate regional prosperity by advancing the UK hydrogen economy, in collaboration with the Catapult Network and other partners.

  • Well Decommissioning Collaboration Initiative: Industry-wide effort to advance well decommissioning technologies.

International Expansion

  • Euro Mechanical (UAE): NZTC’s exclusive partner in the United Arab Emirates, supporting asset operators and owners with decarbonization and innovative energy solutions. This partnership marks NZTC’s first permanent presence in the Middle East and is expected to significantly contribute to the region’s sustainability efforts.

Start-Ups and Technology Companies

NZTC supports and invests in a portfolio of start-ups and technology companies, having:

  • Screened over 3,135 technologies

  • Supported 69 tech start-ups

  • Commercialised 50 technologies

  • Delivered 159+ field trials

🧪 NZTC’s Start-Up Accelerator: TechX Clean Energy Accelerator

NZTC’s flagship initiative, the TechX Clean Energy Accelerator, has been instrumental in propelling clean energy start-ups to commercialization and beyond. The program is an intensive 18-week accelerator offering up to £50,000 in grant funding, expert support, and mentoring. 🚀 2025 TechX Start-Up Cohort

In 2025, NZTC announced eleven start-ups selected for its TechX Clean Energy Accelerator.
